I see that George Ulickas (a relative of yours?) posted a message about your grandfather on this website in November 2020. I recently replied to his post. And now I am sending you a copy of my reply (see below) since it is on the same topic and I thought you might be interested.
“I recognize your uncle’s name (George Peter Ulickas). His name is listed on the wall of the “Honor Roll” chapel that was at the back of Our Lady of Pity Church in the Bronx, New York City. The chapel honors parishioners of the church who died during World War II.
My father (1925-2009) grew up in the Bronx near the church. I have done alot of research about the church and the neighborhood around the church and I think I can direct you to some people who knew of George or his family.”
That is great Stephen .I never knew the Ulickas side because George’s son ( Michael ) abandoned me as a father and unfortunately was a tortured soul .But , I see his father was a true hero !! ? Michael did sign my adoption papers though which was good .

I have read every book I can find on The Sammy B and I am very Thankful for you and all the other brave men who fought the Battle for Leyte Gulf! Virgil O Wethington
